restarting from a cd

I have several viruses on my computer and Iam trying to
install nortons system works and it says to restart from
a the cd so the files do not become corrupted. How do I
do this?

You go into the BIOS and make the CD one of the bootable devices.

Enter the BIOS and set the CDROM as a boot device before the hard
drive (may already be set that way)
Check your motherboard/computer manual or contact the manufacturer for
details.

Then insert the Norton CD, reboot.
Watch closely as the message to boot to CDROM may be on the screen
briefly and you need to quickly press the appropriate key.
Then follow Norton directions.

Shut down the machine.
Wait twenty seconds.
Turn the machine back on. The first or second screen should tell you.
