Hello everyone,

I use Windows XP professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
When I have to restart my computer (for software updates generally including
Microsoft), the screen show a normal process (saving settings etc...) then
the screen goes black, displays a cursor and stays that way without changing.
How do I make my computer restart normally without having to shut the
computer off?

Thanks.

Ben, you could try going into the Bios ( Press Del or F2 on Startup ) and
look for PnP/PCI Configurations. Under
that heading look for Reset Configuration Data. Usually it's set to
Disabled. Set to Enable save and Restart.
