restart when run defender full scan or avg full scan

When I run a full system scan with either Windows Defender or AVG antivirus
the system will just restart part way through for no reason. Yet a quick scan
with Defender will not cuase this problem.
Can unone help?

When I installed Defender it asked me to uninstall AVG. You sure those 2
progs don't conflict with each other?
