restart loop

i downloaded updates from microsoft and now my computer
is stuck in a restart loop. I cannot start it in safe
mode and when i try to reboot using the cdrom it gives
the following message \i386\halacpi.dll could not be
loaded. The error code is 7. I have tried unplugging
everything except mouse, keyboard & monitor but this
makes no difference it goes back into this loop.

Lynn, go into the Bios and set the cdrom as first boot device. Usually
Tapping on Delete button on Startup
will get you into the Bios. If not look in your Manual.

I have tried this and it is then when it give the message
\i386\halacpi.dll could not be loaded. The error code is
7. It then goes back into the restart loop when you
continue from that message.
