resolution

Running XP Pro SP2, the display is setting is set at 1440 by 900 pixel (on
main display, right clicking, properties, Setting). The font size is too
small. I change it to 1152 by 864, the fonts become larger but they are
stretched. How can one decrease the resolution so the font size are bigger
without deforming (stretch) the view?

Thanks...

The ratio of 1440 to 900 is 1.6. (1440/900=1.6)

Change the setting to something with the same or similar ratio. What's
available to you depends on your graphics card so you may not have anything.
The most common non-wide screen settings have a 1.333 ratio or close to
that. True wide screen - 16:9 - has a ratio of 1.78

You can either change the screen resolution in the same aspect ratio...

1280 x 800 would retain the same aspect.. also try altering the DPI to
increase text size..

Hi Mike,

I have had the most luck with the solution you suggest. I
have a couple of clients who's vision is awful. Changing the
DPI has helped them quite a bit. The one caveat is when a
piece of software has been set for a specific resolution. I
have a document manager that I wrote which assumes a minimum
resolution of XGA (1024 x 768) if the resolution is set to
XGA but the DPI is set to 110, then the application does not
display properly on the screen.

I ended up having to have one of my customers buy a 19" 4:3
LCD monitor and setting it to SXGA then setting the DPI to
120. This allowed the app to display properly, and the
customer could then see the screen for all of her other
applications as well as the applications I have written for her.
