Resolution is very low in Remote Desktop

Hello,
I am remote desktop'ing into a win2000 server from XP Pro. I have the
resolution set on my options-->Display within Remote Desktop to 24 bit, and
when I locally log on to the server the resolution is also just as high. Yet
through remote desktop I only can get 256 colours.
Is this the rdpdd.dll at fault??

termserv on windows 2000 only supports 256 colors (by design), it isn't your
xp machine
windows 2003 supports 24 bit color
