resolution is all messed up

Bob

When I start or restart my computer, the screen
resolution is wrong and I can't correct it. When I go
into Display Properties, I cannot change the resolution-
it only allows me to choose 800 by 600. Under Color
Quality, the only choice available it Lowest (4 bit). I
cannot change these settings. If I start the computer in
Safe Mode, I can change the settings, but when the
computer restarts, the settings go back to what they were
before (800 by 600 and 4 bit color). I am running WinXP
and the usual settings I have a are 32 bit color and 1024
by 768 resolution.
Any ideas how I can fix this problem?

how do I uninstall and reinstall the video driver? Will
I need the original XP installation disk?

Try reinstalling your video driver.
optimize Windows XP for the best performance:

Always keep antivirus and spy removal applications
(links on the bottom of the page) up-to-date, and scan
regularly.
