Resolution changes on restart

Why does my resolution change when I restart? I have to
to settings and change it every time.

It first comes up with the right setting, then the screen
goes black for about 3 seconds and comes back up with the
resolution off. Then sorta blinks a couple of times.

Any help with annoying problem will be appreciated. Thanks
