Resizing Taskbar

G

Guest

In win 98 it is easy to resize the taskbar. You just drag it up the screen to
how any lines you want and it just stays there. How do you do it in win xp
pro? Please do not tell me to " unlock taskbar - resize - relock. It doesn't
work!! Each time you close down or restart, taskbar assumes original default
one line size. AND it turns on language bar whether you want it or not!
Help Please

Rick \Nutcase\ Rogers

Hi,

Actually, the unlock/resize/relock instructions are correct. If it is not
holding through a restart, then some parts that pertain to the taskbar are
damaged. MVP Kelly's Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! can help with this, see:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

As to the language bar, if the above does not resolve the problem, go to the
Control Panel/Regional and Language Options, and on the languages tab click
details. On the settings tab, click the language bar at the bottom and
uncheck the line that loads it.

Check your permissions.
I think Windows Explorer taskbar fails to save his settings to the
registry.
There are two choices:
1. You have no permissions (restricted user account). (80%)
2. Your registry is damaged. Try to fix it. (20%).

Hi Alex
Shouldn't be a restricted user account. I'm the only user!
Have run registry fix twice but to no avail.
Language bar problem is cured though.

Hello Wes.
Followed your instruction and found that in user config/admin temp/desktop
everything in there was already listed as Not Configured. Explored the rest
of that screen and found that wherever I looked everything was listed as not
configured.
Anyother ideas much appreciated.
