Resizing chart labels

kim

This is my day for strange PowerPoint questions.

I'm using PowerPoint 2007 and have two problems. The presentation is in 2003
compatibility mode and when I click on the chart, it asks to convert or edit.
I try either option and the chart totally transforms. I tried saving in 2007
format and it continues to be changed. I know it is a problem with the way
2003 and 2007 handles charts, but is there a way to continue working on the
chart in 2007 without having to re-create it?

Also, is it possible in 2007 charts to resize labels so that long scientific
terms won't be split up on different lines without having to resize the text?
I didn't see a way to ungroup chart objects.

I don't know of a good way to work back and forth. When I've had to do what
you're describing, I've had to recreate them many times. It sucks. :-(

Ungrouping charts must be my response for the evening! To ungroup a chart,
copy or cut it, Paste Special (Home tab) as EMF, then right-click and
ungroup twice.

Yes, I was afraid of that. Thanks again for your suggestions. You're always
so helpful!

Oh, resizing data labels -- no can do. Ungrouping is the option. That or
using "manual" textboxes.
