resetting Word

MS recently helped me fix an error in Word but I've now lost some settings
and can't get them back. Specifically...

1. I like an indication at the bottom of a page to tell me the position of
my cursor in any line of text. This is very useful for counting the number
of characters in a place where they are limited, such as eBay titles. How do
I get it back?

2. How do I stop the green wiggly lines appearing under any text which MS
considers to be grammatically incorrect?

and

3. is it possible to set "no spacing" as my default style rather than
"normal"?

Thanks,

Thanks,
For 1, Right click on the status bar and check the box for "Column"

For 2, Click on the Office Button and then on Word Options in the bottom
border and then on Proofing and then uncheck the boxes for "Mark grammar
errors as you type" (and maybe "Check grammar with spelling" if you
never want to see the green squigglies)

For 3, modify the formatting of the Normal style.

Right-click the status bar and choose "Column", as well as any of the
other items you want to see.
2. How do I stop the green wiggly lines appearing under any text which MS
considers to be grammatically incorrect?

Go to Office button > Word Options > Proofing and uncheck "Mark
grammar errors as you type".
and

3. is it possible to set "no spacing" as my default style rather than
"normal"?

Maybe, but it would be simpler to modify Normal to line spacing
Single, zero Space before and after, and select the "New documents
based on this template".

1. Right-click the status bar in Word and click to put a check mark next to
the items that you want to show. In particular, I believe you want to show
the "Column" item.

2. Click Office button | Word Options. In the Proofing category, clear the
"Mark grammar errors as you type" option. Click OK.

3. You can open the Normal template as a document and apply No Spacing to
the empty paragraph, but it will be easier to change the default style set to
"Word 2003": On the Home tab, click Change Styles | Style Set and pick "Word
2003." Then click Change Styles | Set as Default. If/when you are prompted to
save your template, choose to do so.
