Thanks, Ramesh --- the "Logon as Administrator" step worked --- had to reset
all my non-Administrator Desktop Icons --- Right Click Properties does
this --- so does renaming the shortcut.
Anyway --- thanks for the excellent advice.

Hi Cliff,
Try this:

Login as Administrator and repeat the process of setting the default browser
(as you did already)
If this does not help, use "Set Program Access and Defaults" option in
Add/Remove applet in Control Panel to set IE as default.
If this does not help, run this fix: Download the .reg fix. Set Internet
Explorer as default browser:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg
* Use this only if IE is installed in its default location [C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer] *

Hi Ramesh
I installed Mozilla 1.5 and made the mistake of telling it to register
itself as my default browser.
I want IE back as my default browser.
I launched IE, went to Tools-->Internet Options-->Programs Tab and checked
the box labelled "Internet Exporer should check to see whether it is the
default browser" then I clicked Apply and OK.
I rebooted, and relaunched IE 6 -- no popup appeared asking about
reinstatement.
Now, whenever I click on a URL (on my desktop, for example) Mozilla still
lauches.
If you are able to help, I promise to summarize the problem and your answer
back to the newsgroups.
Thanks and Regards ... Cliff

Most welcome, Cliff.
