My CPU (naturally) has begun to refuse to accept the command to log off or
turn off the computer. I have tried Ctrl/Alt/Del without success. My only
option is, as I see it, to shut down the computer from the mains (wall
plug). As this is supposedly not wise, can anyone give me a hint how to shut
the computer down? Thanks in advance. David.

On most newer systems, you can simply press and hold the Off Button on the
PC case for about 10 seconds and the system will shut down. To solve the
underlying problem, go to this website and read the information there.
