Anyone happen to know of a free small program that will convert midi to wav format. I currently use Itunes but it is somewhat cranky and cumbersome to work with.

I'm not sure you can achieve this, as midi files are just a set of
instructions with no audio content.

there was an answer (to mp3, but most solutions also support wav)
earlier today, look for "Need Midi To Mp3 Converter"...

You cannot convert midi to wave, `cos they are 2 different things, But...
If you D\load Audacity and install it, you can `Record what you hear`
with it.
So start Audacity to Record what you hear, then play your midi file.
