Hi there,

I need a demo image or component collection to test XPe on my Epia V-8000. I
found one on the Via Embedded web site, but I can't use this because the
size is over 300Mb and I have only a 256 Compact Flash

Sincerely,

Getting BSOD when you start working with XPe images is not a rare case (I wonder if there are anybody here who hasn't dealt with
BSODs under XPe :) ).

If you give us more information about the BSOD you saw, we can help you more.

Meaning while, make sure you have got proper target device settings set for your Configuration in TD.
Also make sure you included critical components (disk driver, IDE channels, PCI bus, etc.).

You can find some useful information about some BSODs on XPe here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/community/community/tips/xp
(check out Error Prevention section).

And, probably, most of the issues you may see with XPe have been discussed in this NG:

Do you have [purchase] Windows XP Embedded ToolKit that you can use to build a new image?

If you do, you can easy start and create a new image using TAP approach.
This tutorial may help you to understand the process:

Hi KM,

unfortunately I tryed to use the TP tool but when I copy the image on the CF
I get a blue screen of the death!!! :)

Thanx

Good luck :)

Let us know if you still see BSOD and what exactly error on the blue screen.

Keep in mind that you will unlikely be able to minimize the Win98 footprint as much as you can do that with XPe (mostly because of
its componentized form).

One more thing.

You can add minlogon or winlogon macro component to your project and resolve dependencies. This will bring all generic drivers and
components that you will need to boot your OS for the first time.

Thanx alot, I hope to build the image or I go back to Win98!!! :)
