repost of unanswered question regarding marking as read

I posted a question the other day about marking emails as read.
The question was answered and I thought it resolved the problem, however it
did not.
The problem posted was:
I have created a rule to move all email from the Sent box to a Personal
Folder Sent box. I also turned off saving email to Sent Folder in options.
This works great except, all the email coming into the Personal Folder Sent
box is marked as Unread. Can this be changed to Read?
If I attempt to create a rule for this, there is not a choice of 'mark as
read' when acting on sent emails.

I was advised to download MarkRead from
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/custom.htm

I did so but it did not resolve my problem. I am running OL2003.

I'm in a similar situation, and MarkRead didn't work for me, either--but I
just found something that did.

Try AutoRead (http://www.techhit.com/autoread/).

AutoRead adds a command on the "Tools" menu whereby you can configure
folders to have the entire contents marked as read (it also appears as a
custom action in the rule wizard, but I couldn't get it to work that way).

I have thus configured each folder to which I move sent mail to have its
entire contents marked as read...and it seems to be working perfectly.

Oh yeah--the software is a 30-day trial, then a $10 license. But if it
continues to work the way it's working now, saving all that hassle is easily
worth $10. Hope this helps somebody--good luck.

Yup I agree, Autoread is a great tool and the $10 is peanuts for the
headaches it resolves. Thanks for the input.
