Repost: Icon problem

This was: Columizer question
I'm using W2K

Columizer is not supported.

There are a double row of icons at the top of the screen. Normally
hovering
the cursor over an icon, a ballon opens with information. Not in W2K.

Can someone identify and list those icons so I can tell their function?

Also, I have a folder of saved file icons from W98SE. When viewed in W2K,
all the *.ico files now have the same Irfanview icon, I only see the real
icon when opened in Irfan. How to view the real icons in a typical
Explorer view as in W98SE?

This question on microsoft.public.win2000.general got no response.
There are people here using W2K.

Advice?

Thanks,

Mike Sa

Thanks again. That fixed the icon folder, and now in Columizer I see a
icon title in the task bar.

If you have other fixes in mind, please post them as I would save them
for the next problem. It took some time for me to get W98SE looking the
way I wanted, looks like the same for W2K.

what exactly do you want to do with win2k?

Desktop Architect 2.11 is a good customize program and lets you define
various elements including
the icons... and it is free (but dont install it on an XP machine, it has
some problems)

Just normal desktop use, nothing out of the ordinary. I am used to
certain file icons from W95 days, like to keep using the same ones for
zip/text/image, etc. files.

Converted to executable, still works OK.

It is a "powerful" utility, use with caution. I saved it to work with
later. One thing I don't like- it wants to start with windows, see no
setting to turn that off.

Thanks again,

Winpatrol and Teatimer can solve that issue, my man.
