Report Sort order changes with summary

When I add a field to sum a qty - sum([Qty]) in the
report footer, it changes the order that the detail lines
are printed in. It ignores the sorting orders set in the
query. Without the sum field, it sorts as per the query.
Why does it do this? How do I fix it? The query sorts
on multiple fields.

The order of records in a report is not defined in the query, but in the
Sorting'n'Grouping dialog of the report.

Open your report in design view.
Open the Sorting And Grouping dialog (View menu).
Specify the name of the field to sort by.
