Report: Pasting problems

Why can't I paste images from my clipboard into Outlook emails? I just get
that red cross in a white square. But if I paste it into MS Word first
(which I can fo without problem) and then re-copy the image there, then I
can paste it into Outlook. Sorry for this repost - no-one answered last time
and I've been unable to find an answer elsewhere.

Anywhere. For example, I might try to copy and paste a jpg from Adobe
Photoshop Elements into the body of an email by selecting it and then either
selecting 'copy' in the Photoshop edit menu or using ctrl/c. When I go to
the email and 'paste' or ctrl/v I get the little white square with a red
cross. But if I open Word and use 'paste' there, the copied image appears.
Then I can select that (in Word), 'copy' it and then 'paste' it into
Outlook, no problem. I can use the 'insert picture' command without any
problem in Outlook but this is sometimes slow and cumbersome.
I also use OneNote, which has a setting that allows me to grab a screen
image (online or just from whatever I have open); I used to be able to paste
this grab (ie from the clipboard) directly into Outlook. Now I just get the
white square. So I have to open OneNote, select and copy it from there and
then I can paste into Outlook. It's as though Outlook can't read from the
clipboard until the image has first been read into the clipboard from
another Microsoft Office application!
Does that make sense?
