It looks like this newsgroup has won a new sheriff who's trying to establish
new rules.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with the reactivation of an old thread.

Reactivate? Or hijack? Not the same thing.

Guess you don't realize what's happening on the other side of the
forum-to-Usenet gateway.

He knows what happens in forum to usenet gateways, he's just not as annoyed
by it as you apparently are. He's more interested in helping people who need
help, not brow-beating them and driving them away from this forum.

As opposed to pointing out to someone that they are hijacking someone else's
thread or doing a search to find posts on their problem and then replying to
some but never bothering to notice the datestamp. Also remember that these
forums lie to their users by never divulging that their posts are being
gatewayed to Usenet.

If you don't complain about the food that is served to you at a restaurant,
the manager won't know there is a problem. So don't complain when you again
get bad food there.

Exactly how is answering user's questions without slapping them down a few
rungs is bad? Many of the people who use the web front end are not familiar
with NNTP or can't set up a newsreader on their computer (due to policy
restrictions) and the web forums are the only way to ask for help. You
might like bullying people, Michael and I do not see the need. Outlook is
frustrating enough on its own, there is no need to harass those who ask for
help with it.

Dou you mean if we tell you how annyoing your attitude here is, there's
chance of improvement?

I agree, that would be worth a complaint.
