Using Outlook 2007, Vista Home Premium SP2, HP DV6500 Notebook

When replying to newsgroup messages (uses Outlook Express for this) the repeated original message lines are not prefixed with the > symbol, despite options being set to do this. Seems to be a problem that has started recently despite my not having knowingly changed any settings.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Not an Outlook issue, the topic of THIS newsgroup. Outlook has never had
NNTP (network news transfer protocol) support. Ask in a newsgroup that
discusses whatever newsreader you happen to be using. Since you posted
using Windows Live Mail (WLM) for your post here, the newsgroup that
discusses that product is at:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Note: Configure WLM to NOT use quoted-printable format (never recommended
for Usenet posts) and to physically wrap lines at 76 characters, or less.

Well, thanks for the reply, but did you have to be so bloody superior? As I opened up Outlook 2007 and selected Go>News, this seemed a reasonable place to ask. I must remember to be more careful in future.

He posted using the default Windows Vista handler, Windows Mail. The proper
group for discussing that client is:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

I wonder; do you have to be so bloody sensitive?

We all make mistakes from time to time. And get called on them. So you
learned (from a crusty old curmudgeon) that Outlook is not a news reader,
but invokes one for posting to newsgroups.

FWIW, VanguardLH got it wrong, as well, claiming that you used Windows Live
Mail, when your NNTP posting headers tell me you are using the Windows Vista
default client, Windows Mail. BTW, the discussion group for Windows Mail is
here:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
