Reply to/create mail on Outlook Express

When I reply to an email, my cursor jumps either to the
left of the heading of the first previous message or to
that of the just received message rather than at the top
to start a new message.
Also, when I create a new message, with the first
character I type the cursor jumps down a line.
This just started happening a while back and I cannot
find any setting to change it.

Help?

I have Norton (auto updates) and it runs every week,
finds nothing.

try running adaware as spyware running in the background can have an effect.
