Reply in Outlook 2002 not working

All of a sudden (surprise) I can't just hit the "reply" on an e-mail - I
literally have to do a new e-mail to respond - this is the error that keeps
coming up - doesn't matter "where" it is going

550 not local host verizon.net, not a gateway
 
I wonder if you found a solution to your problem?
If you were successful could you share it with me?
I have a similar problem with Outlook 2000.
