I can receive and send e-mails but cannot reply

I can send and receive e-mails using Microsoft Outlook

However if I try to reply to messages they are returned undelivered with the
message:

550 relay from host XXX.XXX.XXX.XX not permitted

This is a problem that only started recently since until now I was able to
reply to e-mails without difficulty

try receiving your email first, then do a reply or a send.

Was the message a 550 and error 0x800CCC69? whose your smtp you send through?
Havoing same problem recently
