I have a laptop that came with system restore disks. I would like to do a
clean install. I have read that Microsoft will supply a Windows disk. Is
that true? Where do I ask?
System Restore disks generally do a "clean install" in that they wipe
out the existing install completely and replace it with a fresh copy
that is exactly the same as when the computer left the factory.
The only concern might be that other software that came bundled with
the new machine may also be installed as part of the System Restore
process. These can then be immediately removed using Control Panel -
Add/Remove Programs if you don't want them.
Remember that if you use the System Restore disks or do a "clean
install" by any other means then all of the data on your hard drive
will be totally wiped out and probably will be beyond recovery.
Good luck
