I have a 83 yr. old father-in-law who had to get a new
computer....which of course came with WinXP. He is used
to Win98 and wants that to use on his new computer. I
have my older registered cd of Win98, but I don't know how
to use it to install it on his computer so that everything
on his computer will run on the Win 98, instead of the
WinXP.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Is there anything on the XP machine he wants to keep?

@drian.

If you change to the Classic Start Menu in XP and change the desktop
wallpaper etc. then XP will have a great deal of the "look and feel"
of Windows 98 while still retaining the advantages and up to date
capabilities of Windows XP.

Remember that Windows 98 is no longer being actively supported by
Microsoft and so there will be no new security updates, no driver
development for new models or types of accessories, etc.

Good luck
