replace failed bdc

my domain contains one primary domain controller and three
backup domain controllers. One of the backup domain
controllers failed (hard drive failure) and must be
rebuilt from cd.

i would like to use the same host name when i rebuild. do
i need to clean up active directory (delete account for
the failed bdc) before i rebuild the bdc, or can i simply
rebuild it? if clean-up is needed, what tool do i use?

sorry about duplicate post. i didn't change email address
in original posting.

Not if you are running Win2000 DCs. You might have BDCs
running NT in a mixed mode Win2000 Domain but the Win2000
DC(s) is/are still just a "DC".

It's a good idea but might not be "necessary" -- I think I recall it working
without doing so (sometimes) but I wouldn't recommend it and the other
way (cleanup) MUST WORK and is more predictable.
