repeating birthdays

Is there a way to prevent outlook from creating a birthday as an appointment?
i already have a special program for that in my phone, and I do not want a
repeat as a appointment

don't enter the birth date in the birthday field of a contact - add it to
notes instead. There is no switch to disable it.
