Repeatedly Putting Laptop on Standby

Will putting laptop on standby repeatedly cause any damamge to the
laptop? I'm running my laptop the whole day but am moving to and from
my desk...i thought putting it on standby when i'm not around would be
a great way of saving energy and preventing wear and tear

however will such repeated standby cause more problems ... or will the
repeated 'on' and 'off' of such states bring any problems to the
laptop?

i'm thinking of doing it average once per hour, standby 10min plus at
each time

Zachie,
Ask this question to the laptop manufacturer. Windows XP will have no
problem going to standby.
