repeat dots to end of the line

I'm making a table of contents and would like to follow every title with a
row of dots to the page number. The problem I'm having is if I just use
periods they are not spaced evenly.
Example:
My first page . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1
My second topic . . . . . . . .. . . . 14

Put a right tab stop at the end of the line and check the leader. Now
when you enter the first name and then hit the Tab button you will get
periods all the way to the right tab stop. If you enter anything like
the page number it will be entered to the left of the tab stop.
DATA ...........................................page 01 The
01 is where the right tab was entered.
