Yes, well, if you used the Table of Contents dialog you would have gotten
the dots (formally known as a "leader") for free. To do it manually:
- Select all the paragraphs of your typed table of contents.
- Open the Format > Tabs dialog.
- Type in the location of the right margin (distance from the left margin,
which is 6" in a default US Letter-based document).
- Click the option button for Right (to align the page numbers with the last
digit at the right margin).
- Click the option button for the dot leader.
- Click the Add button and then the Close button. (If you forget the Add
button, you won't get a tabstop...)
- If you haven't already typed a tab character between each topic and its
page number, do that now.
