repairing windows xp

Confusion

Hi All,

I'm new to here and going to make a repair to the windows xp, however, i am
not sure about the differences between installing a fresh copy and repairing
the used copy.... can someone tell me the differences?

If repairing can keep the installed programs inside, it can save my headache
to resinstall all the programs before..

Whats the current problem...Either way,a repair or "clean installation" of xp
requires you to boot to xp cd,set cdrom as 1st boot device,C: drive 2nd (in
BIOS),a new installation requires this, select at xp cd boot screen, install
xp,repair
this copy or new install,new install,delete the partition,create one,then
xp formats
& installs auto..Either way, time wise is about the same, new install wipes out
all.Plus,if repair doesnt fix it,then you need to reinstall xp,requireing a
whole
lot more of youre time...
