I am trying to do a repair of my XP, and cannot get past the 1/2 point of the
installation of devices. I do not get an error, the system just does not go
past this point. The PC is still responsive. I am assuming there is a
driver error, but it does not give me an error message.

I have gone into the BIOS and turned off everything to minimize hardware
installation - no luck

Ideas?

Thanks

Is everything disconnected from the USB ports? (excpet for mouse and/or
keyboard)

Thanks - I have do have everything disconnected from the computer except the
external CD which I need to install windows.

My guess is using the external CD is the problem. You may have to go to
internal.
