Hello..
I have ME and XP on the same drive. I need to repair/reinstall ME. How do I
do that?
Thanks

Hi,

Same way as you would normally reinstall. The problem is that this will
overwrite the boot sector. When you are finished, the machine will only boot
to WinME. The way to fix that is to boot the WinXP CD and load the Recovery
Console, then run fixboot from the command prompt.

You will need to reinstall Me, then correct the Master Boot Record. See my
web site, www.dougknox.com and go to Win XP Tips

For Win9x/Me: Install 98/Me after XP is Installed.
For Windows 2000: Install Windows 2000 after XP is installed.

Thanks a lot Doug....your site is really a treasure house for those ( I
guess ALL) who invariably face some problems or the other with
opening/closing of windows, and should be widely circulated by MS itself !!!
My question now is ..
I already use a third party boot manager that came with Partition Magic, PQ
Boot installed in the same partion as ME, which remains inactive/hidden when
I am logged onto XP. Is there any special precaution/procedure to follow ??
Thanks again

....and I had forgotten to add that ME is installed on FAT32 partition
whereas XP on NTFS...
Thanks

In your situation, you'll likely have to reinstall PQ Boot, or at the least,
re-activate it. I've never used it, so I can't give you specific
information on it.
