Repairing outlook 2003 data file

How can I repair an ol2003 data file? I presume old scanpst will not work?

It says something like 'this file is being used by another app' even though
it isn't. I suspect ol2003 data file has a different structure to that of
ol2000-2002.

if you have Unicode pst, it does have a different structure but scanpst will
work on it. Mine is version 11.0.6555.0 - what version is yours? Are you
sure Outlook isn't running hidden? Check in task manager.

Make sure Outlook is closed. Control-alt-delete and make sure outlook.exe
on the processes tab is not there. If it is end the process and try it
again. if that doesn't work, just reboot the computer. That should stop the
file being used error msg.

By the way since you installed Ol2003 scanpst will work on the 2003 pst!

As Diane Poremsky said - it should work, can you restart the pc(don't open
outlook) and run the scanpst.

Restarting did not work either. Had to restart in safe mode.
