on boot I'm told windows\system32\config\system is damaged. While booting
on the CD, and in recovery , Isee in the d:\I386\system directory a series
of files such as system.ad_ aystem.ch , etc; which is the right one ?

this line
copy c:\windows\system32\config\sam c:\windows\tmp\sam.bak
does not work; I'm told the file can not be copied. I assume I can't go on -
