Hi, I just sent this to microsoft personally, but their
response seems to be a bit slow recently...
Here it is:

I have recently updated my firewall on my main pc and had
a LSP Conflict error and i used an lsp fix to correct it.
But however the lsp fix completely made my system stop
working all together. When i started it up, it went to
the image at where the login screen would be (if more
than one user account is setup) and then didn't do
anything at all.
So the only thing i could think of was to repair windows
with the disc. I booted from the XP CD, chose a repair,
it copied the files over, then rebooted. It went into the
installation and said 39 minutes remaining. However,
after about 10 seconds of running from the cd, it stopped
and just refused to respond; the animations and the text
on the right explaining about xp continued to work fine.
but nothing was happening and it kept saying 39 minutes.
I waited 39 minutes to make sure nothing was going to
happen, but this was unlike any previous install i have
done. There was no cpu running sound and the cd was not
being read.
I have tried it with 2 different XP Cd's, both have the
same problem so it has nothing to do with the disc.
Do you have any idea why this is happening? I am stuck
without a pc at the minute and am forced to use my laptop.
I really need my pc back as soon as possible, and I
really cannot resort to formatting the drive as the
backups are way out of date. Doing so would make me loose
extremely important data.
