repair message

For the past 4 or 5 days when I close a file a message pops up that says
"This file contains repairs made to it by Word. Saying the file will make these repairs permanent....

Why is this happening? Any suggestions? It doesn't seem to matter what I've done in with the file - for example I just open a new document named it and then changed the page margins when I went to close it the message showed up.

Are you sure it's the document file that Word is referring to? -- Given the
description, it sounds like you might have a corruption in normal.dot. Try
renaming normal.dot then re-run Word.
