Something happened and I can't start the computer. Says
Windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt. I try to get to the
repair option but it asks for a Admin Password. There is no password on this
computer. What can I do to fix this so I can do the repair? Thank you

When Windows XP is installed, it asks you to specify a Admin password, which
most just bypass and not enter anything. Have you tried just getting by
without entering in a password? Its possible the password is blank.

If there's no password just hit Enter for the password.

If the PC is a major brand, like Dell, Gateway, Sony, Compaq, etc contact
their support group for the password and/or instructions.

Then there's probably a password. It may have been set during the
installation. Check documents you might have for it. But if you can't figure
it out and can't find a way to otherwise log on:

Unless you can boot into safe mode this is alittle late for you. Sorry!

The recovery console needs the pasword for the person who installed XP, not
for just any administrator. If the install was done by a major PC maker,
you may need to contact them for it.

However, the password is sometimes blank. So, try just pressing enter when
you are asked for a password, it may help.

Or, if you can get into XP, even safe mode, you can arrange to bypass the
password by the following registry change:

Instead, just run REGEDIT (Start à Run à Regedit)
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\Recover
yConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1

The password being requested is that of the built-in
_Administrator_ account, not the password for any other administrative
user accounts that the computer's owner may have created. Unless the
owner deliberately set the Administrator's password via the Management
Console (_not_ the Control Panel), it's probably still blank. WinXP
Pro asks the installer to set the Administrator's password during
installation, but WinXP Home doesn't.
