Repair install

A friend of mine is building a new machine and is going to transplant the HD
from the old machine into it.
I advised him that he will need to perform a repair install.

He then asked me a good question as his XP installation only has SP1

Can he perform the repair installation with an XP CD that has SP2
slipstreamed???
He already made the CD and it would save a step if it would work.

I think it would work...but I'm supposed to be an expert at this...so
figured I'd ask here first!

Yes ....if the version of XP's are the same.
eg. he has an OEM version installed and uses and OEM slipstreamed with SP2
for Repair

Yes...he slipstreamed the CD he originally installed with
