Have XP Home. Installed SP2 beginning of year. Due to various problem -
system hangs, unresponsive, etc, etc, I want to do a repair install of XP
Home. I have done it previously - before the days of SP2. Do I just do the
reapir install? How will it affect the files that was changed from the SP2
installation? Do I have to run SP2 again? Please help!!!! Thanks

You may not be able to use the repair option. XP Home edition with SP2
installed is considered an "upgrade" of XP Home.
When you insert the XP CD a message nay appear stating that setup.exe has
been disabled - or that the current installed OS (Home with SP2) is a later
version than the CD.

To remove SP2 the following may be an option: Start>Control panel>Add or
remove programs -at top check option to show all updates- scroll listing and
look for "Windows XP Service pack 2" - select to remove.

You can merge the original Home CD with the SP2 download and burn a new CD
that will be Home with SP2 - it is called slipstreaming. A Google search
will give results on how to do it.

After repair install with orignal XP CD (non SP2):
Reapply updates or service packs applied since initial Windows XP
installation. Please note that a Repair Install from the Original install XP
CD will remove SP1/SP2 and service packs will need to be reapplied.

Thanks for the advice folks. I am going to try the slipstreaming route with
AutoStreamer. Regards
