is there a way to repair IE6 ?

All I get is "page cannot be displayed" or "server not found"

I ran all the virus/adaware/spybot software and nothing was found

Hope you don't have the same problem as I have. IE 6 did exactly as you
describe above over a week ago and I haven't been able to fix it. I'm
not stupid, nor computer illiterate, and have fixed similar malware
induced problems before, but this one has me beet.

I've done all you have and a hundred other things, including the IE
'repair' 'trick', all to no avail. It's bust. ****ing Microsoft.

I've resigned myself to using Netscape Navigator v7.1 now, all hope
lost. So far it seems better than IE anyway, so maybe not all bad.

i.e.explorer...click remove[don't panic]a window opens
with 3 options...select "repair i.e."

The point is that repairing or reinstalling IE won't help your problem if
hijackware is present on the system. If you've not downloaded, updated, and
run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot, updated your AV app and run a full
system scan, then posted your HijackThis log to an appropriate forum and
gotten the All Clear from some experts on hijackware, you can't be sure your
system is scumware-free.

Repairing or reinstalling IE depends on the Windows version. Method 2 in
the following KB article works for most OSS; Method 1 is solely for WinXP:
