Hello Everyone
I am not sure where to post this but I could not find a news group for hard
drives.
I have external usb drive which the drive is an IDE I used Partition Magic 8
to perform
a change of cluster size so I could merge the two partitions but the
Partition Magic hung
that is does not respond.
I need some software to recover the drive. The message I get is not
accessible The file
or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Can you suggest some software to receover the drive.

Thank you.

Does the drive have files you want to save or do you
just want to use the drive?

I've used the following software and it's worked for me.

I do not recommend trying this over your USB connection. I've always
taken the drive out of it's external enclosure and attatched it to an
IDE cable directly to the motherboard. This eliminates the possibility
of your USB chips being flaky.

I have discovered that mbr is not the problem, but the file directory is the
problem. Everything I have tried so far does not work. The only thing that
came close is GetDataBack for NTFS but because I have the demo version I
can't copy any files so I can't see if it really works. possibly not. I need
to fix my hard drive.

Sorry;

But unless the "original" files were less than the individual clusters, good
luck using available software. Otherwise, you'll have to seek out a hard
drive specialist who can dismantle the drive and retrieve the information.
Lots of $$$$$.

this is a link to R-Studio, I have used it many times with much success, but
your gonna have to read the documentation as it can be a little confusing.

Use your backups to recover your data.
Yair, there's no point in telling the OP to fdisk/mbr as I believe it is not
cool to have a floppy drive installed these days.
