Reordering taskbar buttons

Is there anyway to change the order of the buttons on the
taskbar other than opening the programs in a specific
order?

None I've seen reported. However, right-click the taskbar, click
PROPERTIES and note the "group similar buttons" option.

TweakUI provides an easy means of grouping least used apps first, or apps
with the most windows first, and some other refinements.
