reordering chart animations

I'm using powerpoint 2007, and I have cut and pasted a chart with vertical
bars and horizontal lines. I selected the chart and added the "wipe"
animation, then customized the "effect" by selecting the "chart animations"
tab. Each element works okay, but I want to reorder the elements. The
"reorder" arrows in the window are not active. How can I reorder the
elements in the chart?

You can't. This is one of those times when you'd need to ungroup the chart
and animate the individual pieces.

To ungroup in 2007, copy the chart, Paste Special (Ctrl+Alt+V) and choose
EMF. Right-click and ungroup the EMF 2 times. Animate as desired.
