Reoccurring meeting reminders keep popping up after being deleted

Employee says that, "Each time I log on, tons of meeting reminders pop up -
all the one's from the last few weeks - even if i have already dismissed
them. Can you let me know what to do. Thanks!"
Have tried to search Microsoft.com but can't find how to permanently dismiss
or delete reminders that keep coming back.

I didn't mention before that it is Outlook 2000, but my concern here is this:
if I run /cleanreminders, will it delete any of the pending (future) events
and reminders?
She is in Marketing and has events scheduled in her calendar for months in
advance.

No, it should regenerate the reminders for the existing valid items
