Stopping a recurring meeting reminder

Suggestions?

How do I turn off a recurring meeting reminder that just will not quit? I
had a recurring meeting in my Outlook, and I deleted it. However, Outlook
continues to give me a recurring meeting reminder, but one which I cannot
dismiss - it gives me an error message that it "[c]annot delete this
reminder. You may be reminded again. Cannot locate recurrence information
for this appointment." So the thing continues to pop up.

Ok, well, I have tried putting "outlook.exe /cleanreminders" in "run" and
hitting "enter, but it does not seem to have had the desired effect. I've
done this both by closing Outlook first, then when that didn't work, while
Outlook is still open. No dice. What am I doing wrong? I cut and pasted
directly from your message below, so I included the space after
"outlook.exe"........

You must run the command with Outlook completely closed. Check in Task Manager to kill all instances of outlook.exe before trying again.

OK, did that, still no go. I'm sure it is something I'm doing, or not
doing... any more advice?

What effect did it have?

When I hit "return" after putting the command in the "run" line, it causes
Outlook to open, and shortly thereafter, the reminder pops up, and cannot be
dismissed. I can still click the x in the top right corner of the reminder
pop up box to close the entire box with the reminder in it, but I cannot get
the reminder itself to go away. It therefore appears the next time a reminder
for another appointment pops up, or the next time I close, and then reopen,
Outlook. This is a real pain in the neck.

Well, I found something in another thread, that seems to have taken care of
the situation. Here's the post from the other thread:
-------------------
After poking around for far too long trying to locate a good answer on what
to do I came up with an article relating to Outlook 98 which instructs you to
do the following:

1. Select the Calender tab
2. Select View - Current view - Recurring appointments
3. Look for the offending item
4. Delete it - ignore the error message that comes up
5. Go back to the normal view
6. Just to make sure it worked - shut down and restart Outlook. - GONE!

If you trust technology more than this, just select View - reminders window
and behold how the item is gone.

Worked for me - hope it works for you as well.
