Renaming NETWORK Printers

Is there any way to rename a network printer?

If I right-click on a local printer, in "Printers and Faxes",
I am offered "rename" as one of the available functions.

However, "rename" isn't offered on all my network
attached printers. I would really like to rename, or nickname,
these printers since network names like "hi83spt44a" are
meaningless to me. I rather have a name, or nickname, like
"HP Color Duplex Printer" come up whenever an application
gives a printer selection list than "hi83spt44a".

Is there any hope???
 
Try this. Go to your pinter list, right click, go to
properties and under the general tab you will see the
printer name. change that name. make note of the current
name before changing. I just tried and works for me.
