Renamed administrator's password

Bill

Help! I renamed the administrator's password in my ad
domain and now I can't get into the active directory mmc
snapins. I get a login failed error. Where do I need to go
to change the password AD uses to login?

Bill,

You changed the password to the Administrator's account? or did you rename
that Administrator's account from 'Administrator' to 'whatever'?

I set a new group policy to rename the administrator
account but it diidn't seem to work. I also changed the
administrator password.

Bill,

Sorry for the delayed response.

There is indeed a Group Policy that allows you to rename the Administrator
account ( and, since I am here, the guest account ). IIRC, all it does is
change the name that you and I see - it does not change the SID.

Have you tried changing it back to 'Administrator'. Try that.

HTH,

Cary
