If you rename the Windows folder you will find all kinds of trouble. It's best to leave the Windows folder as it is. The option to 'rename' the Windows folder on the right click menu isn't there is any case. Why would you want to re-name it?

I'm not certain how easy it would be since this is where the OS
resides. I would imagine it would take Registry changes and the
boot.ini file changes. Why would you want to change the folder name?

Thanks for the advice. The reason for renaming the folder
is that after having a load of problems with Help &
support centre I discovered that I had somehow deleted a
most of the associated files and folders. These I copied
from from my brother's PC but it "index" doesn't work as
its looking in C:\Windows whereas my folder is C:\WINXP.
I thought that rename would be simpler than deleting
PCHEALTH folder and then doing a repair installation.

That's what I did this morning but the problem still
exists with INDEX its looking for a file "merged.hhk" in
C:\WINDOWS but its there in mine but under C:\WINXP.
Obviously the files copied from my brother have this link
set during the install process. I'll take a look at those
links though I've tried "sfc" no problems found.

Hey if you can have a changed c:\windows and then symbolic link say C:\windblows to c:\windows then run a ext2 IFS sytem form is / then c:\windows could make /winblows/ c:\windows for the sake of block symlink for fortifieing a notable drive as a windows partition the hard link to drive mountvol on ext2 IFS in /winblows/ what force happens is appending hdd1 partition 2 and then backup on hdd1 partition 1 then when change partition 1 to 2 is framset to quickly antivirus test that imediate change live hard ware dismount backup clone and change set file sighting is remanded into system clone for benifiting chance of checked viral alert quarentine will then replace file from on c:\windows thus lending drive hdd2 then cloning the hdd1 to hdd2 file at one time registering the c:\windows fully usefull and unchanged for purpose of file tampering virus trojens and malware never tampering and letting windows blow its file make-up to the point of no return
